Baby, it's cold outside.

Autumn is coming whether we want it or not. Some of us are a bit sad or maybe happy, because they have to put their uniforms on again (or for the first time ever) and learn how to write an essay, discover that from a chemical point of view human body consists of 60% of water, or that Earth revolves around the Sun. Some of us have the same feelings about the weather, which is going to change and you won't be sunbathing for 2 hours anymore or showing off your six pack. Unless you live on a tropical island or other warm place!
I like this time of the year, because we spend more time with our family and friends. We go to cinema to warm up a little bit, we pick some new, cosy blankets, we talk, we bake, we drink loads of tea - I prefer a tea without milk and maybe a fruity one, because I'm Polish, aren't I? In Poland where I come from we don't have that strong black tea like it is in England so we don't have to add milk to it and I think it is also some kind of tradition, but enough about tea!
I feel blessed that I live near water and I have those amazing spots in my town. I can sit on a bench and just watch the Mersey river and people jogging with or without dogs, children riding bikes or mums chatting with each other. I like those people who don't know me at all and just smile or start a conversation. Not that I am so interesting, what I meant by that is that people here are very open and friendly. And the view is gorgeous, especially in Wales!
Autumn is a very special time, there's colorful leaves, chestnuts (when I was younger I was collecting chestnuts and making little puppets from chestnuts and matches).
In autumn we also pick different colour of our clothes, or maybe it's just me. I like burgundy as well as khaki, but I also like caramel-coloured clothes. Today it's one of them. I hope you'll like it!

Which season of the year do you like and why?

Maxi skirt for summer.

As a mum I want to feel great in my body and look good in my clothes, but I have to admit - I was (still am sometimes) one of these women that spend a whole day in sweatpants and a T-shirt, without make up on and with an oily hair!

O.K. I have an excuse: I take care of my baby by MYSELF! I don't have Ollie's grandparents around (all of them live in Poland), it's only me, my partner, who works all week and my sister who stops by as often as she can.
O.K. No more excuses! This blog gave me an opportunity to always look good, even when I know that I'm staying at home today or just going to a playground for a while. And it gave me also something to do, some regular task, which I have to mark as 'done'.
Everyone has those days when they just want to feel comfortable in their clothes and aren't bothered taking that pajama off. It's not a bad thing to feel that way, but us women need sometimes a little bit of help to look good. A bit of mascara, a splash of perfume... You know what I mean.
What I am trying to say is that I feel myself again. It's a lot of work being on your own with your little one, but you have to just organize your time and have some motivation to put your make up on and dress nice.
Don't get me wrong, you don't have to be all glammed up to feel yourself, but you don't want to spend the rest of your life in sweatpants (or pajama) either, do you? Just be normal you, but take care of yourself.

And how do you cope with everything? Do you have a time for youself in this cray cray motherhood?

Are you a giver or a taker?

If you found a briefcase full of dollar bills, would you take it? Would you give it to someone in need? Would you take half of it to yourself and give the other half to someone who really needs it? Or maybe you would look for the owner of the briefcase?
I don't know what would I do with those money. I know I could use them, but I couldn't take them from someone.
I think everyone loves gifts and something for free. It's really nice to be spoiled by someone. We love to receive a lot of presents on birthdays, Christmas', weddings and other great occasions. Now spending time with our family or friends just laughing, talking or eating good homemade food isn't that much important as presents. We actually wait for them and think 'What is this friend going to give me and what is my mum going to give me?'. And then when our birthday or other great celebration time comes and we see those presents, we aren't happy at all. We wanted something else.
We all became very fussy these days, especialy those who have more. Somehow people who have less, give more.

Sometimes it's really nice to give something to others just to put a smile on their faces. And we smile back! We are happy! We can give some person a supportive hug, a postcard which will complete a big collection or a little card which says 'Thinking of you' or 'Get well soon'.
The best things are the smallest.

Quick soda bread.

When you make bread, the smell in your house is just amazing. My partner is always happy when he comes back home and I'm baking something at the moment. This smell is in the whole house and it reminds me of my childhood, when my gradmother used to make yeast cakes with breadcrums on top... so yummy!

This week's post from baking category (I know I'm a bit late) is all about bread. And it's not yeast bread, it's soda bread which doesn't have to be kneaded and you don't have to wait for it to double it's size... Perfect!

I have made bread once before - yeast one -and it was tasty, but a little bit flat.
This time the shape was okay, but i can't eat it, I just can't. It's slack-baked bread unfortunately. I don't know what happened. Maybe you'll tell me. What have I done wrong?
Here's Paul Hollywood's recipe.

Ingredients:
- 250g/9oz plain wholemeal flour
- 250g/9oz plain white flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 420ml/15fl oz buttermilk
- extra flour for dusting

Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the two types of flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt.
3. Add the buttermilk and mix until a sticky dough forms.
4. Lightly flour a work surface and tip the dough onto it.
5. Gently roll and fold the dough a couple of times to bring the mixture together. Do not knead.
6. Shape the dough into a ball. Flatten the ball gently with your hand. Score the dough with a deep cross dividing it into quarters. Dust the bread with flour.
7. Place onto a baking tray lined with baking parchment and bake for 30 minutes at 200C/400F/Gas 6. The loaf should be golden-brown.
8. Leave to cool on a wire rack. This is best eaten on the day of baking.
